What's going on with this blog, here?
I haven't updated this thing in forever. Why? Because no one seems to read it or care. That said, it's still showing in the Last.FM page. Maybe I should just delete this from the Last.FM page and move on.

World Gone Dead: When's it coming out, already?
Well, we've been leading you guys on for a half a year now. Here's the thing. Lately we've been saying World Gone Dead will be released in March, and now it's looking more like April. Late April.
Here's the upside: it's going to be worth the wait.
The early builds of the new mixes we've been hearing are unbelievable... I am NOT on production, so you're finally safe from my horrible lack of mixing know-how. The drums are punchy and organic, the sound is truer, everything is heavier. I want to wait until we have the final mixes in-hand before we put these new versions up on the myspace. At that point the hype machine will really start cranking into gear.
Lich King Live
We've been doing the live shows for almost three months now and have a lot of shows coming up. The next one, on the 26th of March, is one we're very excited about: we're playing with our contemporaries and inferiors WITCHAVEN, RAZORMAZE and HATCHET. Anyone that's been following the new wave of thrash will tell you that's kinda a big show, and anyone on the east coast will tell you that a thrash show like this never happens. NEVER. This is a real anomaly, so if you're in a five-state radius, make the drive to catch this firestorm. We're planning to do a cover of a well-known song you might want to wear your dancing shoes for.If / when you see us, look out for the new song BEHAVER. It's my opinion that this song is made for destroying live crowds. The final 35 seconds are going to leave you gasping in a cloud of your own powdered teeth. Behave yourselves.
Interview
We did an interview with DJ Shredder of Metal Assault Radio recently. Tom, Brian and Kevin showed up and mostly just got very silly. As of this writing it's not uploaded yet but keep checking this link to hear it when it's up.
Fourth Album update
Wait, what? Yep. We've been working on new material for the fourth album since December or so. We've got three songs in various stages of progress, and a buttload of ideas for other songs.
The Thing We Can't Talk About Yet
We can't talk about that yet.
Tour?
That's the plan. Problem is, we haven't done this before and trying to work out the logistics is like untying a knot while standing on top of a flagpole while meteors continually crush your skull into atoms. Summer's looking good, but we'll see what happens. A good thing would be if a more experienced band stepped up into a package tour with us and handled the details like booking and all that while we watch and learn. ...Hint hint.
And, once again: The Facebook page. Become a fan.
-------------------------
...and that's pretty much it for now. I'm sure I've forgotten something, but meh. In case you haven't heard it before, stick this in your earholes.

World Gone Dead - good news and bad news
HIYA FOLKS. Thanks for withstanding the frenzy of promotion crap I've been doing recently. A number of circumstances have been aligning recently, none of them negative but having irritating side effects. In truth, Lich King's stock is shooting up right now and luck has been with us. Big things are in the works and I know I've been saying that for a while, but it's true.
So here's the bad news. World Gone Dead is getting delayed. Last you'd heard, it was coming out in mid-November. Now, it's looking like it'll be available in late January. There are two reasons. Our label dude has a trip coming up and he realized he'd only be able to process a few preorders before he has to leave for about three months. That means you couldn't have received your album until January without preordering anyway. The second reason is that we've decided to rerecord the album- the entire thing, minus solos and vocals (with luck) with the new, permanent live band. I've ditched the studio musician dicks whose arms can't stand up to heavy chugging. What with these guys being serious thrashers and now being the live band, I thought I might as well have them rerecord their parts for the album. Apparently the drummer's got some recording space and production knowledge and he can make it sound like it wasn't mixed by... y'know... me. The end result is going to be tighter and I think much better.
The above contains some of the good news. Here's more.
With the time we've got, now, we might just forge another song for the album. I'm starting to think up concepts.
Lich King live shows, teased back in late august, have been in the works since May. Not much has actually been done to further these until recently, when I shifted focus from the halfhearted studio guys Toxic Holocaust-style to this new group of guys. They're practicing feverishly, they sound great, we think alike and I no longer feel like the only member of the band. Apparently we're going to be ready for shows in December. I'm booking stuff now and hope to have some shows to announce soon. They'll mostly be in and around this area as we stretch our legs.
We just need that bassist.
I'm officially feeling out another new wave band on whether they'd be up for a tour. So far they've ignored my message. Let's see how long they let that go before I start flinging poo.

Lich King needs a bassist
If you play bass, like to thrash, can commute to the western MA area and aren't a douchebag, east coast thrash titans Lich King want to hear from you. You must have your own gear and be available to tour and travel. Live experience would be a plus.
Email lichkingmetal@gmail.com to set up an audition. Things are rolling fast so get moving.

Your artwork in the WORLD GONE DEAD booklet
This is an open call to all LK fans. Send in a doodle, oil painting, charcoal sketch, whatever to me and we'll put the best stuff in the new album's CD booklet. Here are the guidelines.
• Have the art be of the King doing something awesome, or of some other subject that ties in to LK songs or mythology or whatever.
• We're not necessarily looking for good art. Crappy art is just as fun. Do stick figures if you have to.
• Make the art big. 300 DPI is optimal. A tiny, shitty jpeg won't cut it.
• Submit the art to lichkingmetal@gmail.com asap. There's no deadline just yet, but make it soon.
• You're not getting paid and there's no prize for the best submission. Deal with it.
Obviously your art will live on through the centuries as this classic album is reprinted, remastered and reissued in perpetuity. This is your chance at immortality, so jump at it you spineless worm.

TERROR CONSUMES is up... at last
Just put up the demo version of TERROR CONSUMES. This version's been around for about a half a year while I waited on the celebrity guest vocalist... who wound up letting me know he was no longer interested by ignoring repeated emails. Thanks dude.
So these vocals are the dummy vocals I put in just to show where the vocals went, and they're not so shabby. As it's a demo, almost everything's getting rerecorded.
Hell, I just realized this version might not even have the bass track. Funny.
What mind can't devour itself?
Atrophied ego, degenerate cells
Just beyond the curtain of dark
An unknown number, an unseen attack
Suggestions of something beyond
Moving about in dark attic rooms
Subconscious thought working against
Your own will
Terror Consumes
Dread's geometric design
Evolution's byproduct, sickening fear
The mind simply cannot abide
All of the things that it can't stop creating
Branches black against the sky
Brain is imprisoned and skull is a tomb
Beckoning arms of the night
Calling you
Terror Consumes
Terror Consumes
No release from horror
Recreation recombines
Charming by the light of day
By night it realigns
Anxiety will overcome
And all the world's askew
You can't see the ghost
But be assured, the ghost sees you
Pale radiance as day breaks again
Heaving a sigh as the witch takes its leave
Go hide in the hours of the sun
But time is a cycle, it's finite, and soon is it spent
On the horizon the sun
Is dying and red in a worsening gloom
You will return to the house
that you built
Terror Consumes

3rd album update

I gave an update a while back. Here's an updated update. The songs for the third album are currently (and in no particular order)
Terror Consumes
ED-209
Lich King III
A Storm of Swords
Waste
Act of War
annnd one that I finalized the arrangement for today. It might make the first track. It's called... Behaver.
We're unsure at this point as to whether the Aggressive Perfector cover is going in there or what... We're not too worried about it. Also? We might put on Grindwheel, which is a song we did about three or four years back, before we ever got serious about this stuff. It's got a slower sludgy thing going on. I think I can heavy it up a bit. There's no current title for the album. We're batting around some ideas.
The cover art is in progress and is about half done. I expect it to be done sometime over the next month. Here's a hint: It features the Lich King. It also features zombies. Gasp! Spoiler alert, LOL
So there, yer updated. Shaddap.

Twitter is awful.
Also, become a fan of us on Facebook. I'd give an address if Facebook could figure out how to make the URL easy. Just search for LICH KING, filter out the shitty Warcraft pages and that's us. You could also search for THE BEST BAND OF ALL TIME.
A big development happened today. It may lead to things. Certain things. Certain things that won't get mentioned now. Stay tuned.

Updates on the next few songs
That's right, the next FEW songs.
We're writing and writing and practicing and writing. The new stuff is coming along nicely. ED-209 is the most Lich King-ey of the new stuff, and by that I mean that it's the most in keeping with the goofy fun feel and the familiar song structure. The new stuff is darker, it's faster, it's a bit more influenced by the evil mexican / southern californian bands. I know I've complained about that style but I tried adding some to the mix one day- just a taste- and we liked how it sounded. Consider us influenced. Slightly. You'll hear it.
There are three songs in the hopper right now. The first two are ready to go, pending inclusion of their respective celebrity guest stars' tracks. The first one to make it through will likely be the cover of a thrash classic featuring our pal Michael Ellero of Canada's RAZORWIRE popping in for a solo.
The second song is called TERROR CONSUMES. This is a dark one and a departure for us in both songwriting and lyrics. The music is, as mentioned, a bit more mexi-thrashy than our regular fare. The lyrics are going beyond monsters and machines and 80's action flicks, into our first forays into mental anguish. Have you noticed how most bands' first albums are all about serial killers and thrashing, and the third is a lot more introspective with songs about paranoia, fear and control? We're definitely feeling that kind of maturity and this song will be the first of that sort. TERROR CONSUMES is specifically about fear.

I don't want to mention who the celebrity guest vocalist is for this one, mostly because the celebrity guests tend to back out and I'd like to keep from hyping someone this good. The song was written with his style in mind and if he does it, it's going to sound cooooool.
The third is one we're maybe only halfway through writing, and it's a long way off from being ready. This one's WASTE. It's about being crushed by your own shortcomings... or at least it's about me yelling at myself for mine.
I have a dozen or so riffs waiting to see if they'll make it into future songs, and a handful of titles and ideas. One will be A STORM OF SWORDS, based on the book of the same name. Another that's definitely being done eventually is LICH KING III. Doing sort of an Overkill thing with that one... sequels. The ongoing tale of the mascot in his bid to rule everything.
There you go, your nipples are now sufficiently erect from all this teaser info about the third album. I can't say when it'll be done. It'll probably be early 2010, squeezing this into 2009's probably a little unrealistic. As to the title? I dunno. I know what I'm doing for the cover art... but I'm not saying.

Bad review number 2!
Thanks to Kevin for notifying me of this. From Metal-Archives.com:
Attention, people, be it pricks or oldies, homeless dicks or Hollywood stars, thrashers or nonthrashers! This is the Shroomie Control Center here, responding to the nonsensically ferocious jaws of praise that grabbed this album and don't let it go! I mean, yeah, I saw fine albums bashed by otherwise fine reviewers, and now I see the opposite thing! I guess that Hulk sniffed some glue and started this thrash band.
I am a fan of the ol' good Bay Area sound, and I don't have problems with humour in music or rawer production. "Then this album should have done the trick!" Noooo, go trick your nuts and hit 'em with a truck, it would give much better results than this album.
Round 1: Raw Production enters the ring, it looks pretty grizzly, it's trebly, it's razor-sharp, it's thrusting its fist towards you!!! But wait, what was that? Oh, no! Raw Production's arch nemesis, Tone Thinness, along with her older sister, Idiotically Thin Guitar Tone, jump in front of Raw Production! So exciting! What is happening right now? Raw Production is beaten to the ground and gangbanged by the two vile characters! What a manky mode to end such a promising fight and knock Raw Production values off!
Round 2: The Skvllfvcking Riffz Gang is hotter than ever! They promised us a masterful display of old-school techniques in order to determine the listeners to bang their heads and bite their tongues. Yes! YES!! The Skvllfvcking Riffz Gang succeeded in almost ripping off the beginning from Vio-Lence's Eternal Nightmare! So old-school, so refreshing, so invigorating! Now it's time for the Bonescrewing Dictator Of Rehashment And Radioactive Boredom to make its appearance! And he has a giant bazooka, omgz! The Gang won't give up, and they try to kick his sorry ass to pieces, but one shot from the Dictator's bazooka is enough to convert them to crappy, repetitive, bland riffs hopping all around the place! And there's the Dummy-Drummy Tiny Magician, trying to do his best in drumming and save the Gang from being lynched by the angry metalhead mob! Instead of grandiloquent, solid, relentless beating, he can only draw a slower than fast general tempo, a few farty "yo homey" breakdowns (a term coined by confrontational writer and thrash philosopher UltraBoris) and stinky cymbal sounds that make everything worse! Pathetic, indeed!
Round 3: The Almighty "Slick Dick Cuntpiercer" Lead Guitar! Oh, wait, he seldom burps a solo, each solo is standard, has been smoked before and will therefore be IGNORED.
Round 4: The Groaning Losertron gives his peak performance! What kind of question is "what performance", you goose? It's screaming! Screaming and screaming and screaming and screaming, only high-pitched screaming, no bleeding. Pointlessness blessed this guy with a nice set of funny lyrics and an even nicer set of lack of talent.
In a nutshell: Nocturnal Breed, Mastery et al. take the cake for serious thrash assaults! Lich King take the Manboobs Award for being so persuasive, so motivated and so... so... so... so... so covering those two awesome songs by ony veteran act and one incredibly awesome act! They should do only covers, it would be so much better. This album sounds just like a bunch of rehearsals with two excellent covers at the end: a hairy Nenderthal guy with two superb boobs. And this, my friends, is sad.
It got a 35%. Nice! Thanks Eugene from Romania. You're energetic, but you're not as good a writer as you think you are- tone back on the stuff you think is funny by being random and esoteric, because... not so much.
What with all the rave reviews being posted all over the universe, it's refreshing to come across someone that can't see that NM was the best album of the last 167 years. It's like reading a Mad Lib- a silly, fun escape from reality.

Toxic Zombie Onslaught might be up... eventually
Yeah, sorry about that earlier report that it might be up that night. Obviously that didn't happen. I'm still waiting on the vocals and there have been setbacks. Once I get the vocals I'm plugging them in and banging the file up to myspace immediately. Till then, I'm going to cease to hype... I won't say it's coming until it's up.
GTA IV update time.
So I went to the midnight opening and stood in line for about an hour to get my copy. All around me were large beef-fed college kids that looked like the type that would enjoy murdering people in a fantasy world, and I had a dark moment as I contemplated my place in the world. Then I got my copy and promptly got over it, leaving the mall at 12:45 AM.
I downed a deeeelicious Dunkin' Donuts vanilla chai and raced home, then began to play. I've played a lot since, and I've formed some solid opinions. Here they are.
• The main character is great- Niko Bellic is the series' first sympathetic protagonist. You feel for the guy and his situation. You get the ability to choose whether to kill or release some of your mission targets once you find them. Whenever I can I let them go. I'm no saint, I still like plowing through crowds of innocent people on the sidewalk.
• The vehicle handling bugged me at first- pressing the handbrake button makes you swerve and slide all over the road, and there's very little control over the cars. With practice I saw that it just takes finessing, and is that sloppy to make certain that going full speed is a very dangerous affair, to be used in extreme circumstances.
• The graphics are just amazing, especially the little details like the texture of the streets, the way your tires leave skid marks, and damage to cars like blood stains and everyday dents and gashes, maybe bullet holes, etc.
• The lack of fixed-wing aircraft is a sore spot for me. One of my favorite ways to get around in San Andreas was to take a plane to wherever I was heading and jump out overhead, parachuting down and enjoying the sight of an airline jet crashing in the middle of an intersection. It should be noted that the helicopters don't have parachutes either, so... no more skydiving, from what I can tell. That. Stinks.
• I've played the multiplayer a bit by now and I haven't played MUCH but I was almost bored by the action. You can free roam about the city with up to 15 other people, go on multiplayer mission massacres, have team battles, stuff like that. It's fun, but it's not... FUN. I may need to play more.
• No user music collection station. They had this in San Andreas and I used it all the time. It's a real shame, it seems like this would be a simple matter.
• Maybe it's just that I'm a country mouse, but being trapped in the city all the time is wearying and depressing. I liked being out in the countryside in San Andreas now and again, just launching myself off of cliffs at high speeds and dirt biking over rock formations.
• I'm greatly enjoying finding a gas station, standing in front of a pump and shooting it. When you die, you die in slow motion, so when the gas station explodes and you fly for two city blocks and collide into stationary objects it's realllllly fun to watch.
All in all, I'm enjoying the game greatly but it's not video game crack driving the chemicals of my brain. I don't quite understand the run of perfect reviews... that seems a bit much to me. It's a 9.4 out of 10, I'd say.
